Nanoscale Silicon Carbide Powder

Main application: non-pressure sintered silicon carbide ceramic powder, coating and paint, precision grinding and polishing, composite material addition, insulation materials, etc.

Nanoscale silicon carbide processed by special technology has the characteristics of high purity, uniform particle size distribution, big specific surface area, high surface activity, low apparent density, which also has the excellent mechanical, thermal, electrical and chemical properties, namely, high hardness, high abrasive resistance and good self-lubrication, high thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion coefficient and high temperature strength, etc. Its Moh’s hardness is 9.5, its microhardness is 2840-3320kg/mm2, which is between corundum and diamond, and its mechanical strength is higher than corundum, so it is the first choice for abrasives.

Nanoscale silicon carbide has the following characteristics:

2.It has strong absorption ability to infrared wave. It can be used as infrared wave absorbing and penetrating materials, made into functional film or fiber, and also used for polishing and grinding.

3.It has the properties of wear resistance, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and acid and alkali solvent resistance, so it can be widely used in coating, oil paint and other fields to increase the wear resistance.

4.It has a high energy gap width, high critical breakdown electric field, high thermal conductivity, small dielectric constant, higher electron saturation mobility, strong radiation resistance, and good mechanical property, which can be used as the ideal material to produce electronic semiconductor and electronic devices with high frequency, high power, low energy consumption, high temperature resistance and radiation resistance.

Application cases:

1.Modified high-strength nylon material: Nanoscale SiC powder has good compatibility, dispersity and matrix bonding in polymer composites. The tensile strength of modified nylon alloy is 150% higher than that of ordinary PA6, and its abrasive resistance is 3 times higher. It is mainly used for polymer parts of armored tracked vehicle, steering parts of automobile, textile machinery, lining plate of mining machinery, train parts and so on. Densification can be achieved by sintering at a lower temperature.

2.Modified PEEK (a kind of special engineering plastic): The nanoscale silicon carbide treated by Jinmeng New Materials Company can greatly improve the abrasive resistance of PEEK (more than 30% than before) when the addition amount is about 5%.

3.Application in the rubber industry: Adding about 2% of the nanoscale silicon carbide, without changing the original formula for modification and reducing the original performance and quality, can improve the abrasive resistance by 20%-40%. Nanoscale silicon carbide is also widely used in rubber rollers, fuser films of printers and other fields.

4.Surface treatment of metals and other materials: It can be used in refractory coating, heat dissipation surface coating, anticorrosive coating, wave absorbing coating, and other coatings of cutting tools and molds. The electro-deposited composite coating with high density and strong adhesion can be formed on the metal surface by using nanoscale mixed particles. The microhardness of composite coating is greatly improved, the abrasive resistance is increased 2-3 times, the service life is increased 3-5 times, the adhesion between coating and basal surface is increased by 40%; the coating has strong covering power and uniform surface, smooth and meticulous.

5.Structural components: These components include sliding bearings, liquid fuel nozzles, crucibles, molds with high power and high frequency, and semiconductor components used in metallurgical, chemical, mechanical, aerospace, energy, and other industries.

6.Composite material: It is used to prepare metal-base, ceramic-base and polymer-base composite materials.

7.Other application: It can be used for high-performance structural ceramics (such as rocket nozzle, components in nuclear industry, etc.), wave absorbing materials, igniters, anti-wear lubricating oils, high-performance brake pads, high-hardness and abrasive-resistance powder coatings, composite ceramics for strengthening and toughening, electric heating elements for electrical industry, far infrared generators, structural coatings, functional coatings, protective coatings, wave absorbing materials, and stealth materials of aerospace industry, protective armors of tanks and armored vehicles, ceramic cutting tools, cutting blade tools, measuring tools, molds, structural ceramics for special use, functional ceramics, engineering ceramics, etc.
